What do I need to know when buying a business?

Look for a business in an industry where you have expertise, experience or which you have had as a hobby for a time.  Look for the right location both for you and for the type of business you are going into. See that the business is in the price range that you are willing to pay and check what you are getting for the purchase price

Why is the owner selling?
As a prospective business buyer, you will be concerned as to why the business owner is selling the business. Business owners sell for a variety of reasons: retirement, poor health, relocation or simply being ready to move on. If it is a good business for you, the reason for the sale does not matter.

How much should I pay?
Be guided by the assessment of the business and your feel for it. Some business owners will stick with their asking price, some sell for less than their listed price. If it's a business you like, don't be afraid to make what you consider to be a reasonable offer.

What are BRAVADO ’s fees?
In most cases, the BRAVADO  broker is a representative of the seller and is paid by the seller; in this case there is no direct cost to the buyer to use a BRAVADO broker.

Costs are only incurred by the buyer if a BRAVADO broker undertakes a targeted search for a business not currently listed for sale but with an owner willing to consider a purchase offer. Under this circumstance, the broker is a representative of the buyer and the buyer is responsible for paying the broker fee.  Fees for a targeted search, would typically be a retainer of $5,000 and a negotiated percentage success fee at closing.

What information do I need to provide in order to learn more about a particular business?
This varies from business to business depending on the size of the business, the complexity and competitiveness of the industry, the disposition of the seller and other factors. Under any circumstance, safeguarding the confidentiality of the seller is our first priority.  Before releasing detailed information on the business, you will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
